About Neil
Neil McPhee brings nearly a decade of experience to his role at Lakefield LLP, where he excels in both collaborative and litigative aspects of family law. Dedicated to guiding clients through their major life transitions with strength, knowledge, and intention, Neil empowers them to be the architects of their own futures.
Neil’s practice promotes negotiating out-of-court resolutions that preserve the family’s dignity and emotional well-being; however, he vigorously represents his clients in court whenever it is appropriate and necessary to do so. As the leader of the CBA Saskatchewan’s Dispute Resolution section, Neil champions mediation and other out-of-court methods. These are more efficient and cost-effective approaches that can be tailored to the unique circumstances of each family. However, he is equally skilled in the courtroom, bringing a strategic and assertive presence to his litigation practice. His commitment to excellence in both areas ensure that he is prepared for any scenario, deftly helping his clients in the forum best suited to their family’s particular needs.
Neil’s deep understanding of family dynamics is enhanced by his training in Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), which shapes his trauma-informed approach to handling sensitive cases involving children and families in conflict. Whether negotiating settlements or presenting cases in court, he is adept at managing complex issues such as parenting disagreements, child support, spousal support, and property division across diverse economic backgrounds.
A strong proponent of transparent communication, Neil builds trust with his clients by providing clear, honest advice, enabling them to make informed decisions about their legal paths. He is also committed to mentoring the next generation of family lawyers, fostering a collaborative environment at Lakefield LLP that enhances the collective expertise of the team.
By working with Neil, clients benefit from his integrative and harm-reduced approach to helping families in transition. His model of practice ensures meticulous attention to detail and strategic planning in pursuit of the best possible outcomes for his clients.
Neil serves as past-Chair of BGC Saskatoon, closely follows the ATP/WTA tours, and enjoys adventuring with his family.
